ARISE Plus Cambodia and EuroCham organized their 8th joint “SME Export Talk” event on 1st December 2022 at Raintree Business Centre, Phnom Penh. The topic of the event was “Getting Cambodian Fisheries Products to Export Markets”.

The workshop featured insightful presentations and practical experiences by speakers from the Fisheries Administration, Control Union (International Quality Standard Certification Body), and fish exporters. Furthermore, a representative from CAPFISH Capture - Post Harvest Fisheries Development program of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Cambodia talked about progress and interventions, including technical support on quality infrastructure and export grants for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Cambodian fisheries sector.

In summary, participants learned about the following:

-       Overview of fish export policies, rules and regulations in Cambodia,

-       Current international market access for Cambodia’s fish products, including China, Japan and potentially European markets, such as France,

-       Consumer trends in international markets

-       Practical experiences and insights from fish exporters, such as Cambodia Fresh Farm and Unica Distributors

The event was concluded with an interactive panel discussion session when participants had the opportunity for asking more specific questions to the panelists.

Co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the ARISE Plus Cambodia project supports this topical SME export information event series with the objective to raise awareness of issues and offer tips that can support Cambodian SMEs to improve their business-and export performance.
