Celebration of the International Customs Day 2024 and the Authorized Economic Operator Handover Ceremony

Phnom Penh, 28 January 2024 – On 26 January 2024, ARISE Plus Cambodia joined the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE) in celebrating the International Customs Day 2024, and the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Handover Ceremony to award the first three companies in the country.

The celebration was presided over by H.E. Dr. KUN NHEM, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and the GDCE Director General, with the participation of representatives from relevant ministries, private companies, and development partners.

The AEO program is a Customs-to-Business partnership under the World Customs Organization (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards. This program is crucial and beneficial for both Customs and businesses to enhance international supply chain security and facilitate legitimate trade. The certified companies enjoy a range of benefits, including faster clearance times, reduced inspections, and priority treatment.

ARISE Plus Cambodia takes this opportunity to congratulate the GDCE on the successful launch of the program and the three AEO-awarded companies. The project is delighted to have joined an effort with the GDCE to develop and implement the program, in line with the Cambodian government’s international agreements and commitments for better trade facilitation.
