CNSW Outreach for Import & Export Permits in Private Health Sector

Phnom Penh, 19 January 2024 – Another series of awareness training on “Applying for Import & Export Permit on Cambodia’s National Single Window (CNSW) for Manufacturers and Pharmaceuticals” was successfully conducted on 11 -12 January 2024.

The event was co-organized Ministry of Health (MoH) and ARISE Plus Cambodia, together with the CNSW Secretariat CNSW and the GUUD – the system developer. Held under the chairmanship of H.E. Peas Muslim, the MoH Undersecretary of State, the two-day training attracted over 250 participants from 149 pharmaceutical manufacturers and trading companies.

CNSW is the Cambodian government’s key trade facilitation initiative to allow faster and more transparent cross-border trade processes by consolidating into an online portal the processes of trade-related documents necessary for customs clearance.

MoH is among the 10+ government ministries and agencies already onboarded in the live implementation of NSW in Cambodia. To date, 49 companies in the health sector are already using the platform for their trade documents, including the 23 new companies that joined after participating in the last training workshop in May2023, which was also held under the support of ARISE Plus Cambodia.

This training session aimed to increase the understanding and the utilization of the CNSW among the health sector traders. It also supported the MoH’s ongoing efforts to promote system adoption and meet the capability-building needs of the users. A training video on the CNSW is currently being produced as part of this initiative and anticipated to be released in February.

Co-funded by the European Union (EU)and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the ARISE Plus Cambodia project supports this initiative as part of its key activities to support the Cambodian government in implementing its trade facilitation commitments under the WTO TFA and to support better connectivity and economic integration between the country and the rest of ASEAN.
