Siem Reap, 26 January 24 – A workshop on “Commercial Dispute Resolution and Business Debt Management Strategies” was successfully conducted with the participants of over 100 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)and business associations in Siem Reap province on 23 January 2024.
The full-day event was co-organized by Siem Reap – Oddor Meanchey Chamber of Commerce (SROCC) and ARISE Plus Cambodia, in partnership with GIZ-supported ICONE program and the National Commercial Arbitration of Cambodia (NCAC). The workshop aimed to raise awareness among SMEs on business agreement management and financial literacy to ensure sustainable business operations. It also provided valuable insights and shared practical experiences related to commercial dispute resolution and effective business financial and debt management.
The morning session featured presentations and panel discussions by the industry experts, Mr.Kim San, Vice President of the National Commercial Arbitration of Cambodia (NCAC) and Ms. Math Fanita, the NCAC Secretary General, on the topic of Commercial Dispute Resolution. Participants were equipped with valuable knowledge and strategies to better understand the commercial disputes, preventive measures, innovative solutions and the crucial component of effective business agreements.
The afternoon sessions covered a range of topics to help the participants better understand the importance of business financial plans for sustainable growth, practical strategies for managing business debts, market analysis and business franchising models. H.E. Dr.Tan Monivann, Vice President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) graced the session with his presence and engaged in interactive discussions with the participants.
Oknha Dr. Huy Pheav, the SROCC President, emphasized that such workshops are crucial for business owners to acquire more knowledge to improve their business, understand appropriate measures and procedures for handling business disputes and financial management issues, and establish business connections.
This workshop marked the fourth in a series hosted by the SROCC, in partnership with ARISE Plus Cambodia, to provide SMEs better access to validated trade information, public-private dialogue mechanisms and capacity building. The previous workshops covered topics such as Public-Private Dialogue Consultation for SME Exporters, Updates on Business Registration Procedure and Tax Obligations, and SME Export Talk Series on Getting Ready for Export.
Co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the ARISE Plus Cambodia supports this initiative as part of its key support to enhance private sector engagement and better preparedness for the ASEAN Economic Community’s seamless, single economic space.
